Playing Cards
Touch Points
Branding + Illustration + Product Design
This was a project I worked on while in Copenhagen. The task was for us to create a 52-card deck of playing cards and packaging that informed audiences about sustainability.
I chose to take a more personal approach, teaching kids and young adults about sustainable practices done in their communities. The main goal was to empower instead of scare. I believe that if we saw problems of sustainability as something in our community, then there is a more collective effort in working towards it.
Suits & Number Cards
For each suit, I created a symbol representing a type of sustainable energy. I added slight curves and imperfections to communicate a softer language. For each of the 10 number cards, I would put a fact about that sustainable energy source.
Face Cards
For the face cards, I linked each of the Jack, King, and Queen to a specific role in communities. The Jacks were visualized as farmers and represented production in communities. The Queens were visualized as teachers and represented education. The Kings were visualized as Scientists, representing development.
